Who We Are

In accordance with UK law, IMC is governed by three trustees: Jake Brunner, who founded IMC in 2008, works for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Hanoi, Vietnam; Tim Thornton-Jones is a lawyer who works for Lawrence Graham in London; and Tim Appleton runs the Rutland Water Nature Reserve in the UK.


NAME: U Myint Aung
POSITION: Program Coordinator, in charge of all field activities and program development.

Before joining IMC, U Myint Aung worked for the Smithsonian Institution and for 20 years for the Nature and Wildlife Conservation Division where he was warden of Chatthin Wildlife Sanctuary. He has a BS in zoology and MS in wildlife ecology from Yangon University.

NAME: Thandar Kyi
POSITION: Program Manager, in charge of all financial and administrative affairs.

Before joining IMC, Thandar Kyi worked for the Smithsonian Institution and for 18 years for the Nature and Wildlife Conservation Division where her last position was in the Forest Department Director General’s office. She has a BS in zoology from Yangon University.

NAME: Khine Khine Swe
POSITION: Community Engagement Officer, in charge of community surveys, education, and outreach.

Before joining IMC, Khine Khine Swe worked for the Smithsonian Institution and for 15 years for the Education Department where she was a high school teacher. She has a BA in geography from Mandalay University and an MA in geography from Yadanabon University.
